Content Incubator 3 – Lost Souls – concept for a game

What is it?

Lost Souls is a mystery  ( think ‘Cold Case meets the Outback’) where you must discover the glues hidden in the past to solve the riddle of what happened to the Smith family who suddenly disappeared in the summer of 1945.

It is a series that will be accessed online  -  visitors get to view supporting video clips and access other information to help them along but to engage them further, scenes that can be played like a game will be provided.

Why a game?

This prototype allows people to engage with the story a deeper level and discover the clues for themselves. Because there are no boundaries, you get to imagine what has happened and piece together a background to the characters and who they were.

User Journey

Users can access the game once either online or download it for free as a dashboard widget or standalone game. If they wish to replay the game, they will need either buy it outright for a small fee or subscribe per ‘episode’ (at a reasonable charge for all 10 episodes).

Conclusion

The game will provide another layer to the story and a means for the audience to immerse themselves into a richer experience.

Your Face Here!

For our first content incubator weekend, we were split into teams and had to respond back to specific real world briefs. Our proposal involved the idea of giving people the ability to upload their own faces into a video scenario.

There’s some really entertaining examples of this concept using different technologies but with the same novelty of seeing yourself either as a character or as part of a scene.

The Eco Dance

A strange hooded man performs his own unique dance, at the end of which he removes his face! – bizarrely it’s all related to some organic eggs….but the cool part of it is that you can upload your own face and watch your creation dance away. The results are funny but freaky.

The Lost Valentinos

Sydney based band produces an innovative augmented reality project, this is a really cute idea – how many fans would love to have a hologram of their fave lead singer ;-)

Gary’s Social Media Counts

Started my course on Multiplatform Content this week at the AFTRS here in Sydney which after 2 sessions feels like it’s going to be not only informative but also alot of fun (especially when the syllabus is led by Gary Hayes, the director of Innovation Unit LAMP ).

Below is a useful widget he has developed that gives you a snapshot of social media activity right now. Watch the dollars spent on virtual gifting (yes, gifts that are bits and bytes and not actual physical presents) I think I may be in the wrong business ;-) .
